Traceable Better Cotton from Australia is now available for member brands and retailers to source via the Better Cotton Platform.
Better Cotton has traditionally been traded and traced under a mass balance system. However, due to feedback from brands and upcoming EU legislation that will impact on-product claims, Better Cotton has now established traceability for physical Better Cotton. Mass balance will also remain available, with both physical and mass balance cotton traced using the existing Better Cotton Platform (BCP).
Brand and retail members of Better Cotton who have paid the one-off activation fee can start sourcing physical Better Cotton from Australia on the 26 May.
For the 2024/25 season, 148 Australian myBMP (Best Management Practices)/Better Cotton farm businesses have opted to participate in traceability. Over two million bales of cotton is expected to be available, or approximately 467,000 metric tonnes.
Following another large and high quality crop, ginning commenced in April with cotton available to ship from Australia from mid-May.
To find out which growers or Australian merchants you can source through, please contact the Cotton to Market team at Cotton Australia at: [email protected].
