Cotton Australia’s Brooke Summers joined a group of fashion and manufacturing industry representatives from Australia and Hong Kong in a round table discussion about sustainable fashion and the circular economy held in Melbourne in June.
Hosted by Creative Victoria, the group shared knowledge with the aim to uncover opportunities to connect both countries through common interests in sustainable fashion.
“The delegation from Hong Kong included its only spinning mill, government representatives, designers, brands and manufacturers. It was a great opportunity to ensure farmers and raw materials had a voice at the table, and it was clear that Australian cotton was held in high regard,” Brooke said.
“The event was also an opportunity to educate those with more limited knowledge of our sustainability story outside our usual range of stakeholders,” she said.
