Typo, the anything but ordinary lifestyle brand, is embracing home-grown natural Australian cotton fibres and celebrating its roots, while making an impact worldwide.

Being an Australian-born company and selling in more than 15 countries, using Australian cotton was an opportunity to bring a piece of Australia to global customers and support local farmers simultaneously.

Typo’s Head of Production, Dean Roberts, said using Australian cotton and becoming a licenced brand partner helped the company achieve its goals.

“We’re committed to only sourcing cotton that’s produced in a way that’s kinder to the planet and improves the livelihoods of the people who produce it,” Dean said.

“Australia is one of the most water-efficient cotton growing countries in the world, thanks to a range of innovations including reducing evaporation and precision irrigation.

“We’re supporting our homegrown cotton industry, which provides employment for more than 11,000 people Australia wide, supporting local families and their communities.”

The exciting new range of Australian cotton products was initially introduced in Typo’s sock range in January 2024. Just four months later, the range was extended to include pencil and laptop cases, backpacks, duffle bags and Typo’s popular tote bags.

The products have that signature Typo twist of bold, and vibrantly coloured – qualities that Australian cotton fibres bring to life thanks to its excellent dye uptake abilities.

“We have noticed that the colours are more vibrant and as Typo customers love our unique designs, this really enhances the product,” Dean said.

Cotton Australia’s Brand Relationship Manager, Ashley Hollis, said she has enjoyed working with the Typo team and welcomed them as a licenced brand partner.

“Their dedication to sourcing Australian cotton and supporting the Australian cotton industry has been impressive,” Ashley said.

“From the very beginning, Typo has been all in – committing to sustainability and quality. It’s been a pleasure to partner with a brand that shares such strong values and enthusiasm for supporting Australian cotton.”
