2025 was a landmark year for the Australian Cotton Mark program, a year where growth didn’t just happen, it soared. The demand for Australian cotton has never been stronger, and the program’s results tell a story from our brand partners of commitment, collaboration, and pride in local sourcing.
Over the past 12 years, the Australian Cotton Mark has helped brands showcase Australian-grown cotton in their products, giving consumers confidence in the quality and origin of what they buy. In 2025 alone, 64.5 million units were processed, representing a staggering 92% increase on 2024, and a clear signal that more brands and retailers are embracing Australian cotton than ever before. Behind these numbers lies a network of over 50 licensed brand partners, all dedicated to transparency, quality, and traceable supply chains.
The surge in applications reflects a growing movement of brands committed to sourcing sustainable fibres and telling the story of Australian cotton. Each application represents more than a product; it’s a pledge to uphold the standards of the mark and a commitment to the farmers who cultivate the cotton from paddock to product.
Top contributors to this growth include Target, Caprice, Big W, Sussan, and Designworks, brands that are helping shape the market, making it easier for consumers to identify Australian cotton and reinforcing the value of the mark.
Australian cotton may be grown locally, but its journey spans the globe. Data from 2025 shows the pathways of licensed products at each stage of production: spinning most often takes place in China, Vietnam, India, and Bangladesh; fabric production is primarily in China, Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam; and garment assembly predominantly occurs in China, Bangladesh, India, and Indonesia.
The growth of the Australian Cotton Mark program is a reflection of the dedication of the Cotton Australia team, the collaboration of our brand partners, and the hard work of growers across the country. From a strong base of committed brands to increasing consumer recognition, 2025 has set a new benchmark for success.
As we move into 2026, the program will continue to support brands in telling their Australian cotton story, while giving consumers confidence that every purchase truly supports Australian farmers. The story of Australian cotton continues, and it’s stronger than ever.
